HomeworkI know you’re probably thinking, “Gee Joe! You think!?”. But I bet you’d be surprise how much homework a jobseeker does while looking for work. A person who does absolutely no homework at all will probably go to a job search engine or job board, find a job he or she is interested in, and just apply. I’m not going to lie, I’ve done that before. I’m not going to deny that I didn’t get any work. I’ve been lucky.

LunchWouldn’t it be cool if you had the chance to go out for lunch with a celebrity? I bet this idea has crossed many people’s mind. Honestly though, I don’t think many people get pass just thinking it. They think of it as some fairy tale that will never happen so they never try.

Well, I’m not going to be part of the “many people”. I’m going to try! Not only am I going to try, but I’m also going to try while being me. None of this pretending who I am just so I can impress whomever. I’m not trying to get a date! I already have a girlfriend. :)

All I would ask is a chance to go out for lunch. If they like me, we can always be friends. You never know… if they really like me, they might even let me know of any jobs coming up. You gotta love being optimistic :)

2009 BET Award Show After-PartyI have to admit. Although it has been very difficult for me to find a job, it hasn’t been too difficult finding myself at these great events. One morning I wake up and I find an invitation to the 2009 BET Awards Show After-Party. I send in my RSVP and of course I forward the e-mail onto my very exclusive buddy list (mwahaha). Sad thing was nobody on my list replied back or I didn’t see at the party. I might want to follow up see how their doing.

At the party, there was one great Arizona friend Kaylee and her friend Steven! Apparently the entire Got Film? crew put their RSVP in as well but two showed up :P

Overall, it was a fun night. Music, Booze, and Celebrities! Who can ask for more?! I should also note the party was in tribute to Michael Jackson (RIP).

Got Film? ProductionsI just wanted to give a shout out to my buddies over at Got Film? Productions, LLC. If you’re not sure who they are, I would recommend heading over to their website. Most of the people who run the company were friends who I went to college with. While I left to play in the wonderful world of Hollywood (/sarcasm), they stayed in Arizona to do what they love. They’ve done many projects such as commercials, music videos, and are even currently working on a feature film.

The main reason why I’m writing an article about them is because they are hosting their very own 48-Hour Film Challenge on August 7, 2009! You can sign up at their website at an entry fee of $25. “Read More” to see their flyer!

TaxiI don’t normally rant about things among my friends and so far have never rant about anything on my blog but today I’ve decided to rant.

I currently live up near Chatsworth in the Los Angeles area. A few weeks ago, I needed to get over to West Hollywood for the 2009 Game Show Awards. Since it was a new month (June), I needed to get a new monthly bus pass. My usually spot I normally get a pass is at the Orange Line stations. From that station, I was to take the bus to get to West Hollywood. The problem was getting to the Orange Line station (didn’t have a bus pass to get there). I was also running out of time and couldn’t do the one hour walk to the station. I had to get a taxi.

The JamesOkay, yes I know that I am very behind in writing these articles. It’s not usually my most favorite thing to do. Now that I have some time to rest, I can write a few.

Since my last article, I’ve only had one gig that I was part of. The movie is called “The James”. My job, like many of the past gigs, was being a Grip. The nice thing though was I was allowed to take the title “Key Grip” for the second day of production. There was still many parts of being a grip that I need to learn but I believe I did a pretty okay job.

TwitterWho has a Twitter account? It seems like everyone does these days. One thing I discovered is Craigslist isn’t the only place where you can look for work! Not even on Careerbuilder or Monster! You can find work on Twitter! Guess what? Today I found out what the number one tip is for getting a job… do a cartwheel!

Lets back it up here a little bit. A few weeks ago, there was an open casting call for tour guides at Universal Hollywood Studio. There were over one thousand people there and I stood in line for about two hours. Needless to say, I didn’t get the job. I was talking with one of my bestest buddies on Facebook (Kaylee) and she gave me some advice. She told me the next time I go in for a job, do a cartwheel and tell a joke. I promised her I would.

BlogrollAs you heard from some of my past articles, I’ve spent some of my free time browsing other blogs that are related to the film industry. What can I say? Craigslist get boring after a while. Anyways, I’d like to share a few blogs that I’ve been looking at. As I find more, I’ll be sure to let show them to everybody!

Be sure to check them out and I’ll be sure to link some articles in the future.

Blog Post-ItI was just browsing through other film blogs around the web and then compared them to find. One thing I realized… “Wow! My blog hurts the eyes!”

So I went ahead and changed up the theme to my blog so that it should be a little nicer to the eyes of the viewer. It should also look less cluttered. Before, it was difficult for me to separate the blog articles from each other on the home-page. Now you can.

If there are any other suggestions you like to see, let me know. Just because you send suggestions though, doesn’t mind I’ll use them. So don’t cry over it!

IntrusionThings are starting to look up for me. Although I haven’t been able to find any paid work, I am enjoying the amount of work I have been able to find. It’s been my third month here in L.A. and I just finished my second gig last weekend. The film is called “Intrusion”. It’s a senior thesis for a couple of Biola University students. All the shots were night shots so I had the honor to be up all weekend. The hardest part for me was working these nights shifts as I was working the day shifts on the set of “I.D.”.

I was able to find this gig through Ben, the Gaffer from “I.D.”. Working on “Intrusion”, I met more people. Since there were about 15+ people, I had a difficult time remembering names. By the end, I can probably only list about half the people (which are basically the people whose Facebooks I have).
