I know you’re probably thinking, “Gee Joe! You think!?”. But I bet you’d be surprise how much homework a jobseeker does while looking for work. A person who does absolutely no homework at all will probably go to a job search engine or job board, find a job he or she is interested in, and just apply. I’m not going to lie, I’ve done that before. I’m not going to deny that I didn’t get any work. I’ve been lucky.
But if you do your homework, you show the potential employer you are interested in working for them. Doing your homework includes
- Seeking the name to the person receiving the e-mail or whom you are seeking employment from.
- Knowing what their company has done in the past (such as one movies they’ve produced).
- Find out if they had any issues in the past that you know you can improve on.
- Check to see if they have a nickname. When addressing them, add their nickname before their name in quotations (“jogBlog” Joe Tapangco).
Do your homework. If you don’t do your homework and didn’t get the job, you can’t blame the dog.
